The Mortuaries and Funeral Facilities Agency (MOFFA) is set to deploy staff to all districts in Ghana. This initiative aims to oversee funeral activities and prevent any mistreatment of deceased individuals.
The deployed personnel will be tasked with monitoring funeral events closely. They will also assist in preventing any form of abuse or disrespect towards corpses.
To ensure efficiency, these monitors will be equipped with mobile phones. This will allow them to communicate and report any issues promptly.
Motorbikes will also be provided to the personnel. This will enable them to travel quickly to different funeral sites and respond to concerns.
The agency stated that the personnel will document cases where they suspect a body is being mistreated. This documentation will be used for further action.
The executive director of MOFFA announced the plan. He emphasized the importance of ensuring dignity for the deceased.
This nationwide deployment is expected to improve standards in funeral services. It also aims to address public concerns about the handling of bodies.
The agency believes this measure will help maintain public trust in the funeral care system.
