Former President John Dramani Mahama has expressed understanding for Ghanaian cocoa farmers. The government recently reduced the price paid to farmers for a bag of cocoa.

The price dropped to GH¢2,587 from GH¢3,625. This change is part of new government reforms in the cocoa industry. Officials linked the reduction to instability in the international market.

Mr. Mahama stated that he too is affected by the price reduction. He made these comments while speaking to participants at an event.

The government explained the price adjustment was necessary. This decision impacts cocoa farmers across the country.
