Community groups in Kenyasi, located in the Ahafo Region, are demanding the transfer of police officers who have served in the area for a prolonged time. This call comes amid concerns about increasing crime within the community.
Frank Kofi Adusei, who leads the Omanbotantim Association, stated that some officers have been stationed in Kenyasi for more than is usual or considered effective. He believes this has impacted the community's safety.
Mr. Adusei explained that long service in one place can reduce the proactive approach needed to tackle emerging criminal activities. He suggested that fresh personnel could bring renewed energy and strategies to law enforcement.
The association chairman indicated that the current situation may be contributing to the rise in criminal incidents. He emphasized the need for the Ghana Police Service to reassign officers to ensure a more dynamic response to crime.
The community groups hope that by bringing in new officers, the police's ability to effectively police Kenyasi will be strengthened. They are awaiting a response from the relevant authorities regarding their request.
