Illegal mining is creating new dangers for communities. This is according to the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre, also known as KAIPTC.

KAIPTC organized a workshop in Kumasi. They invited important people like chiefs, police, and government workers to talk about the problem.

The meeting looked at how illegal mining, called galamsey, is making people unsafe. This is happening in areas like the Ashanti Region and Western Region.

KAIPTC stated that this type of mining is connected to more security problems.

The group brought together traditional leaders, security agencies, and policymakers.

They wanted to understand the risks illegal mining brings to public safety.

The discussions highlighted concerns about the impact on communities where galamsey occurs.

KAIPTC’s findings point to a serious issue that needs attention from authorities.
