The government of Ghana will begin a new SIM card registration exercise. This decision was made by Cabinet after reviewing the previous system.

Minister for Communications, Samuel Nartey George, shared this news. He explained that the old registration had problems.

These problems included weak checks on people's identity. Data collected was also not always correct. There were also instances of people registering SIM cards falsely.

The new exercise is intended to create a more secure and accurate SIM card registration process.

Details about when the new exercise will start and how it will work are expected soon.

This move aims to improve national security and prevent the misuse of mobile phone lines.
