The Narcotics Control Commission is starting a pilot program called Drug-Free Clubs. This initiative aims to steer young people away from illegal substances. It is currently being tested in five schools across the region.

The schools selected for this pilot include Legon-Presec, Accra Girls, and Aquinas Senior High Schools. Two junior high schools, Kotoka and Burma-Camp, are also part of the program.

This special initiative is managed by the Education and Prevention Department. Officers Sandra Abaka-Quansah and Patrick Agyepong are leading the efforts on the ground.

The program focuses on educating students about the dangers of drug use. It encourages a positive lifestyle and offers alternatives to substance abuse. The goal is to foster a drug-free environment within these educational institutions.

By creating these clubs, the commission hopes to build awareness and prevent drug-related issues among the youth. The feedback from this pilot will help shape future nationwide efforts.
