A taskforce in the Jomoro Municipality has burned equipment used for illegal mining activities. The operation targeted changfans and water pumping machines found in forests and water bodies. This action was taken by the Jomoro Municipal Taskforce.

The taskforce collaborated with the Municipal Police Command. They also worked alongside the Blue Water Guard. This cooperation aimed to stop illegal mining operations.

Three changfans were destroyed. Six water pumping machines were also burned. These items were seized because they were involved in illegal mining.

The illegal mining was happening in protected areas. It affected both forests and water bodies in the Jomoro Municipality.

Benedict Boadi, the Chief Executive of Jomoro, established the taskforce. This effort is part of a larger operation to combat illegal mining.

The Ghana Police Service supports these efforts. Their presence helps ensure the safety of the taskforce members.

Authorities stated that illegal mining harms the environment. It pollutes water sources and destroys natural habitats.

The destruction of equipment serves as a warning. It aims to deter others from engaging in illegal mining.
