A group called the Center for Public Opinion and Awareness, or CenPOA, wants the government to stop charging fees for people wanting to join Ghana's security services. This includes agencies such as the Ghana Police Service.
CenPOA issued a statement explaining their position. They believe these application fees create a barrier for many potential recruits.
The organisation has called for the outright abolition of these charges. Their statement highlights that this practice has continued for many years.
This call aims to make joining security forces more accessible to all qualified citizens. CenPOA believes that financial burdens should not prevent individuals from serving their country.
