A group called the Center for Public Opinion and Awareness or CenPOA is asking the government to stop making people pay to apply for jobs in security services. This includes jobs in the Ghana Police Service and other agencies. CenPOA believes charging application fees stops many good people from even trying to join.
The group mentioned that this has been a problem for a long time. Many citizens cannot afford these fees. CenPOA feels that job applications for important national services should be free for all eligible Ghanaians. They say this will allow more people to serve the country.
CenPOA issued a statement about this issue. They hope this will encourage the government to change the policy. This change could help ensure security services have the best possible people joining their ranks.
