The Bunkpurugu-Nakpanduri District Police Command has issued a directive to halt the firing of muskets and other guns during funerals and public gatherings in Bunkpurugu Township. This measure is intended to ensure public safety.

The ban was announced in a letter dated August 11, 2026. The letter was signed by the District Police Commander, ASP Emmanuel Kofi Sintim.

Community leaders, including chiefs, elders, and assembly members, have been formally asked to suspend the practice. Residents are also urged to adhere to this temporary prohibition.
