Chiefs and people of Atronie in the Sunyani Municipality have warned they will use spiritual means to fight illegal mining. This threat comes as a response to ongoing galamsey operations in the area.
The leaders stated they are prepared to call upon their local deity. They believe this spiritual intervention is necessary to stop the galamseyers.
This action is planned if the government fails to provide a solution. The chiefs expressed frustration with the lack of official intervention.
Galamsey, or illegal mining, has caused significant environmental damage in many parts of Ghana.
The Atronie traditional council is calling for immediate government attention to the issue.
They hope this strong warning will prompt authorities to address the problem effectively.
