The District Chief Executive of Atiwa East, Ernest Owusu Ntim, has spoken about the safety measures at mining sites. He stated that the Assembly is working to monitor reclaimed mining areas.
This comes after seven people died at Asamang Tamfoe. Owusu Ntim explained that the situation at the site was not an abandoned or active pit.
He confirmed that the Atiwa East Assembly has a task force. This group is responsible for watching over mining sites.
The DCE's comments aim to clarify the Assembly's actions. He wants the public to understand the steps being taken to prevent future tragedies.
