Amnesty International has urged Ghana to enact a law against witchcraft accusations. The human rights organization issued a statement on Wednesday, July 23.

The group highlighted the continued delay in passing the Anti-Witchcraft Accusations Bill. This delay leaves hundreds of victims without proper legal protection.

The call for action follows the killing of Akua Denteh six years ago. Her death brought attention to the issue of witchcraft accusations in Ghana.

Amnesty International believes the law is necessary to prevent further harm to vulnerable individuals.

The organization stated that passing the bill would provide a legal framework to address these harmful practices.

Ghanaian authorities have not yet commented on the renewed call for the law.
