A civil society group is calling for an end to application fees for jobs in Ghana's security services. The Center for Public Opinion and Awareness (CenPOA) issued a statement asking the government to remove these charges.

CenPOA stated that these fees have been a barrier for many years for people wanting to join agencies such as the Ghana Police Service and Ghana National Fire Service.

The group believes that expecting applicants to pay money just to apply for a job in public service is wrong. They feel it stops many good people from even trying to join.

CenPOA is urging the government to look into this matter and make the application process free for all aspiring security personnel.
