A High Court has set April 22 as the date for the trial of Chairman Wontumi and Akonta Mining. The charges relate to alleged illegal mining activities.

These activities are said to have taken place within the Tano Nimiri Forest Reserve. The court will hear the case on the scheduled date.

The legal proceedings follow allegations of galamsey. Akonta Mining is also named as a defendant in the upcoming trial.

Forest reserves are protected areas. Illegal mining can cause significant environmental damage.
