The Criminal Court 4 Division of the High Court in Accra has ordered Bernard Antwi Boasiako to present his defence. He is accused of allowing two people to mine on his concession illegally.

The prosecution had asked the court to dismiss Mr. Boasiako's previous plea. This plea argued there was not enough evidence to proceed with the case.

The judge ruled that the prosecution had presented enough evidence. Therefore, Mr. Boasiako must now provide his side of the story.

The charges stem from allegations that Akonta Mining Limited, associated with Mr. Boasiako, engaged in mining activities without the necessary ministerial permission.

This case highlights the ongoing efforts to enforce regulations against illegal mining across the country.

The court's decision means the trial will continue with the defence's presentation of evidence.
