A High Court in Accra has told Bernard Antwi Boasiako, also known as Wontumi, that he must now defend himself in a case involving illegal mining. The court made this decision on March 31, 2026.

Mr. Boasiako is facing charges related to allowing mining activities on his concession. Specifically, he is accused of letting two individuals mine without the required ministerial approval.

The trial judge stated that the prosecution has presented enough evidence to require Mr. Boasiako to make his defence. This means the prosecution believes they have shown a case that needs a response from the accused.

The legal proceedings are taking place at the Criminal Court 4 Division of the High Court in Accra.

This development is part of an ongoing effort to address illegal mining operations in the country.
