The Bolgatanga District Court presided over by His Worship Osaman Mawuyone Latey has ordered the remand of three suspects into police custody for their alleged involvement in the murder of a university student. Graphic Online reports that the individuals identified as Kassim Ziblim plus two others were apprehended following the death of a final year student at C.K. Tedam University of Technology and Applied Sciences.

According to a Ghana Police Service report the victim was allegedly attacked and stabbed during an incident in the Navrongo municipality. The student who was in his final year of study reportedly died from injuries sustained during the assault. Citi Newsroom reports that the police conducted a swift operation to identify and detain the suspects shortly after the crime was reported to the local authorities.

The prosecution led by Inspector Samuel Yao Sarpong requested the court to remand the suspects to allow for further investigations into the motive and circumstances of the killing. GhanaWeb reports that the first suspect Kassim Ziblim is a security guard while the identities and roles of the other two suspects remain under active police scrutiny. The court did not take the pleas of the accused during the initial appearance.

The Magistrate adjourned the case to October twenty eighth two thousand twenty four to provide the police with sufficient time to complete their forensic analysis and witness statements. Graphic Online notes that the university community and the family of the deceased have called for a transparent legal process. The court instructed the police to ensure the suspects are produced at the next scheduled hearing date.
