An Accra Circuit Court has sentenced three individuals to prison terms for their involvement in illegal mining activities.
The illegal mining took place in the Ashanti Region.
The court found the three individuals guilty of environmental destruction.
They were also found guilty of operating without the necessary licenses.
The Judicial Service confirmed the sentencing on June 27, 2026.
This action follows crackdowns on illegal mining operations across the country.
