Nurse Salomey Awiti Baffoe has returned to her family compound in Techiman after over three weeks in detention. Her children and relatives expressed relief upon her return. In her first public comments, Nurse Salomey expressed overwhelming gratitude to the thousands of Ghanaians who campaigned for her release, stating their support gave her strength even while she was detained. Her family also thanked the Ghanaian public and her legal team for their unwavering support throughout the ordeal. The nurse's detention, referred to locally as the Salomey Bafoh Free Speech Case, drew attention from civil society groups and media. She was released on GH¢100,000 bail in connection with the 'Ghana Jollof' case. Although she is home, her legal battle is not over, with the matter adjourned to February 17, 2027, for her next court appearance. She is expected to remain on bail until then. Her relatives remain confident that the case will conclude in her favor, while Nurse Salomey plans to rest and reconnect with her children before returning to her nursing profession.
