Members of the Minority Caucus in Parliament have refused to participate in the vetting of three Supreme Court nominees. They believe the process is against the law and parliamentary rules.
The boycott happened yesterday during a meeting of the Appointments Committee. The Minority Caucus stated their reasons for opposing the vetting exercise.
The nominees being vetted are Justice Sophia Rosetta Oduokuwa Bernasko Essah, Justice Edward Amoako Asante, and Mr Anthony. Their nominations are now proceeding without the Minority's input.
A walkout means the Minority members left the meeting room. This action highlights a significant disagreement within Parliament regarding judicial appointments.
The Appointments Committee is responsible for approving or rejecting nominees for high judicial positions. Their decision will be based on the vetting process.
This event raises questions about the transparency and fairness of the vetting process for Supreme Court judges.
