State prosecutors have submitted an amended charge sheet at the Accra High Court involving the former Chief Executive Officer of the Microfinance and Small Loans Centre known as MASLOC. According to a MyJoyOnline report the updated filings include additional evidence concerning the alleged misappropriation of state funds originally meant for development projects and infrastructure across various regions.
The primary defendant Sedina Tamakloe Attionu and the former Head of Operations Daniel Axim are accused of multiple counts of stealing and willfully causing financial loss to the state. Citinewsroom reports that the charges center on the suspected diversion of millions of Ghana Cedis designated for small scale business support and social intervention programs during their tenure.
Court documents referenced by the Daily Graphic indicate that the prosecution has introduced new witness statements to bolster claims of financial irregularities. The state alleges that the accused persons authorized payments for goods and services that were never delivered or were significantly inflated in value. Legal representatives for the defendants have consistently maintained the innocence of their clients throughout the proceedings.
The presiding judge noted the submission of the fresh charges and adjourned the matter to allow the defense team time to study the new documents. A GhanaWeb report states that the trial has faced several delays due to the absence of the first accused person who is currently outside the jurisdiction for medical reasons. The court has previously ordered the trial to proceed in absentia while monitoring her status through official channels.
