A court in Accra has handed down a sentence to a man who tried to rob a mobile money vendor.
The man, aged 28, received five years in prison with hard labour. He admitted to the crime.
The incident happened when the man attempted to steal from the vendor.
Members of the public intervened and prevented the robbery from succeeding.
They apprehended the suspect before the police arrived.
The case was heard at the Accra circuit court.
The court found him guilty of attempted robbery.
He will serve his sentence as handed down by the Judicial Service.
