Madagascar's former Senate president has received a 10-year sentence of hard labour.
Richard Ravalomanana was found guilty of complicity in murder by a court.
His conviction relates to a violent crackdown on youth-led protests that occurred last year.
These protests were instrumental in removing the previous government.
Ravalomanana is a retired general and a close ally of former President Andry Rajoelina.
