A High Court in the Eastern Region has concluded proceedings regarding the 2021 ritual murder of an eleven year old boy by sentencing two young men to death by hanging. The court heard evidence detailing the circumstances surrounding the abduction and subsequent killing of the minor which shocked the local community at the time of the incident.

Presiding judge Justice Lydia Osei Marfo indicated that the actions of the convicts were premeditated and lacked any shred of humanity. The prosecution successfully argued that the pair lured the victim to a secluded location with the intent to use his remains for spiritual purposes or financial gain through ritualistic means.

During the trial the court examined forensic evidence and witness testimonies that linked the two individuals to the crime scene. Legal representatives for the state maintained that the duo acted in coordination to execute the plan which led to the tragic loss of a young life.

The defense had previously attempted to argue for leniency but the court remained firm on the application of the maximum sentence. The judge noted that such violent acts against children require the strongest possible legal response to ensure public safety and to uphold the sanctity of life within the jurisdiction.

Community leaders and family members of the deceased expressed a sense of relief following the verdict. While the death penalty remains on the statutes the case has reignited discussions regarding its application in modern legal frameworks within the country.

The convicts will remain in custody pending the execution of the court order as prescribed by law. This ruling marks the end of a lengthy legal battle that began shortly after the discovery of the victims body in the Koforidua area years prior.
