A Koforidua Circuit Court presided over by Judge Isaac Osei has sentenced 24 year old Isaac Tetteh to fifteen years imprisonment in hard labor. According to a Pulse Ghana report the convict was found guilty of robbery following an incident where he used a machete to attack a victim in the Eastern Regional capital. The court records indicate that Tetteh pleaded guilty to the charges brought against him by the prosecution.

Technical details from a GhanaWeb report state that the incident occurred in the Koforidua township where the convict intercepted his victim. Isaac Tetteh was reported to have brandished a sharp machete while demanding valuables including a mobile phone and an undisclosed amount of cash. The victim raised an alarm shortly after the encounter which led to the intervention of nearby residents and the subsequent arrest of the suspect.

During the court proceedings the prosecution presented the retrieved mobile phone as evidence against the accused. A Daily Guide Network report mentions that the Eastern Regional Police Command processed the suspect for court immediately after conducting their preliminary investigations. The police statement provided to the court confirmed that the weapon used in the commission of the crime was recovered from the scene of the arrest.

In passing the sentence Judge Isaac Osei remarked on the increasing incidents of street robberies involving deadly weapons in Koforidua. The judge stated that the fifteen year sentence would serve as a deterrent to other young individuals who might consider engaging in violent criminal activities. The convict has been transported to the Koforidua Prisons to begin serving his term as ordered by the court according to local judicial sources.
