Ken Ashigbey, the leader of the Media Coalition Against Galamsey, has praised the government. He stated this after the conviction of Bernard Antwi Boasiako.
Mr. Boasiako is the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party. He was found guilty of involvement in illegal mining activities.
A High Court sentenced Mr. Boasiako to 20 years imprisonment. The conviction and sentencing occurred yesterday.
Mr. Ashigbey’s reaction supports the government’s action in prosecuting the case.
The prosecution and sentencing are seen as a significant step in the fight against illegal mining.
