A Kasoa Circuit Court sentenced twenty four year old Isaac Tetteh to fifteen years in prison with hard labor following his conviction for multiple counts of burglary and theft within the Kasoa enclave. According to court proceedings reported by MyJoyOnline the convict was found guilty of breaking into residences to steal high value electronic items including laptops and mobile phones.
The prosecution led by Chief Inspector Brenda Asante stated that the incidents occurred within the Kasoa Millennium City area and its surrounding suburbs. Details from a GhanaWeb report indicate that the convict acted alongside an accomplice who remains at large. The prosecution presented evidence showing that the stolen items were valued at several thousands of Ghana Cedis which the convict had already sold before his arrest.
Judge Ebenezer Osei Darko noted during the sentencing that the prevalence of such crimes in the Kasoa municipality required a deterrent sentence. A Citi Newsroom report confirmed that the convict pleaded guilty to the charges of conspiracy to commit crime and stealing. The court heard that the police recovered some of the stolen devices during a search of the residence where the convict was apprehended.
As of the time of the sentencing the police continue to search for the second suspect involved in the operations. Authorities from the Kasoa Divisional Police Command have urged residents to enhance security at their properties and report any suspicious individuals within their neighborhoods to prevent further property crimes in the region.
