A Kasoa Circuit Court presided over by His Honour Isaac Oheneba Kuffour sentenced a twenty four year old man to fifteen years in prison with hard labor. The convict faced charges related to robbery and conspiracy to commit a crime according to a GhanaWeb report. The sentencing follows a series of residential robberies that occurred within the Kasoa township in the Central Region.
The prosecution stated that the convict and his accomplices attacked several households while armed with offensive weapons. According to court records cited by GhanaWeb the group stole electronic gadgets mobile phones and undisclosed amounts of cash from victims during the late night operations. One specific incident involved the use of a locally manufactured pistol to threaten residents.
Police investigators arrested the suspect after a victim identified him during a formal identification parade. A report from the Ghana Police Service indicated that additional suspects linked to these robberies remain at large. The court heard testimony from multiple witnesses who described the convict as an active participant in the violent raids across the Millenium City and Gomoa Fetteh areas.
The presiding judge noted that the stiff sentence serves as a deterrent to other young people in the community. While the GhanaWeb report confirms the sentence length the specific identities of the other gang members remain unconfirmed by official police statements. The convict has been transported to the Nsawam Medium Security Prison to begin his term.
