The Akropong District Court has remanded three suspects into police custody following their alleged involvement in a murder linked to a land dispute in Gomoa Fetteh within the Central Region. Graphic Online reported that the suspects appeared before the court after being apprehended by the Ghana Police Service in connection with the death of a man during a confrontation over a parcel of land.

Official reports from the Ghana Police Service identify the suspects as Nana Abor Attah who is a local chief and two other individuals named as Nana Kwesi and Benlord Ababio. Citinewsroom reported that the police arrested the individuals following a direct investigation into the violent incident which took place in the Gomoa East District. The court has scheduled the next hearing for late September to allow the prosecution to complete its preliminary inquiries.

According to a report by the Ghana News Agency the deceased was allegedly shot during the dispute while at a construction site. The prosecution informed the court that the investigation remains at an early stage as they work to recover the weapon used in the alleged crime. The defense counsel for the suspects argued for bail but the presiding magistrate denied the application citing the severity of the charges and the risk of interfering with ongoing witness statements.

Information shared by Adom Online indicates that the police are currently pursuing other accomplices who are believed to have fled the scene after the shooting. The Ghana Police Service has issued a statement urging residents of Gomoa Fetteh to remain calm while the legal process continues. The court has ordered that the suspects remain in police custody to assist with the reconstruction of the crime scene and the validation of forensic evidence collected from the area.
