A food vendor identified as Kande Seidu has been sentenced to 20 days in prison custody. She was found guilty of using open fire within Alabar Market in Kumasi. This action violated an order from the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly.

The sentence was handed down by Her Worship Deborah Gyawa Donkor at District Court Two, located at Prempeh Assembly Hall. The court appearance took place on Monday, March 16, 2026.

The prosecutor informed the court that Kande Seidu's use of open fire posed a safety risk to marketgoers and vendors. Open flames in crowded market spaces are prohibited due to fire hazards. This case highlights the enforcement of public safety regulations within commercial areas.
