Former Managing Director of the Tema Oil Refinery (TOR), Asante Kwaku Berko, is currently on trial in a Brooklyn federal court. He stands accused of orchestrating a scheme to pay over $1 million in bribes to Ghanaian officials.
Prosecutors allege that the bribery was intended to secure a power plant deal for a Turkish energy company. The scheme reportedly took place a decade ago while Berko was associated with Goldman Sachs.
