The Deputy Attorney General, Dr. Justice Srem Sai, wants a court to dismiss the defense's request to not continue a case. This request was made by the lawyers for Bernard Antwi Boasiako, who is the NPP Ashanti Regional Chairman.
Mr. Boasiako is known publicly as Chairman Wontumi. His lawyers argued that he had no case to answer.
Dr. Srem Sai told the Accra High Court to reject these arguments. He wants the court to order Chairman Wontumi to start his defense.
The Deputy Attorney General presented his arguments during court proceedings on Tuesday, March 10.
This is part of a legal case being heard by the Judicial Service.
The court will now decide whether to accept the Deputy Attorney General's request.
If the court agrees, Chairman Wontumi will have to present evidence to defend himself.
