Evans Eshun, popularly known on social media as Ebo Noah, has been remanded into police custody after being charged in connection with public statements that authorities say caused fear and panic. The self styled prophet was arrested on December 31, 2025, and arraigned before court on Friday, January 2, 2026.
According to police and court records, Eshun is alleged to have breached the Public Order Act through repeated public claims that a catastrophic global flood would begin on Christmas Day, December 25, 2025, and last for three years. He claimed the flood was revealed to him through a divine vision and said he had been instructed by God to construct modern day arks to save humanity.
Throughout 2025, Eshun shared videos and photographs on social media platforms including TikTok and YouTube, showing large wooden vessels he described as arks being built in Ghana. In these videos, he urged people to prepare for the impending disaster. His messages gained widespread attention locally and internationally, drawing both followers and critics.
Police say the claims created anxiety among sections of the public. Reports indicated that some individuals travelled to the location of the alleged ark sites in anticipation of the flood. A widely shared video showed a person said to have travelled from Liberia to Elmina in Ghana’s Central Region to join the project. Authorities say such actions contributed to their assessment that the messages posed a public order concern.
When the predicted flood did not occur on December 25, 2025, Eshun released further videos stating that his fasting and prayers had persuaded God to postpone the disaster to give humanity more time to repent. Critics on social media accused him of deception, especially after videos surfaced showing him driving a luxury Mercedes Benz, with allegations that donations meant for the ark project may have been misused. These claims have not been confirmed by police.
At his court appearance on January 2, the court ordered that Eshun be remanded into police custody for two weeks. The court also directed that he undergo a psychological assessment ahead of the next adjourned date, set for January 16, 2026.
Police say investigations are ongoing and have reiterated that the case centres on the effect of the public statements on peace and public order. Authorities have cautioned the public to rely on verified information and avoid panic driven by unverified claims. As with all criminal matters, Eshun is presumed innocent until proven guilty by a court of competent jurisdiction.
