A court in Accra has instructed Bernard Antwi Boasiako, also known as Wontumi, to start his defence in a trial. The case is about allowing mining without proper approval.

The Criminal Court 4 division of the High Court made the order. Mr. Boasiako is accused of permitting two individuals to mine on his concession. This allegedly happened without ministerial approval.

The judge decided that the prosecution had presented enough evidence to proceed. This means Mr. Boasiako must now respond to the accusations.

The trial concerns alleged illegal mining activities. Mining without the correct permits is against the law in Ghana.

The court's decision moves the case to the next stage. Mr. Boasiako will have the opportunity to present his side of the story.
