A court in Accra has said Bernard Antwi Boasiako, head of the NPP in the Ashanti Region, must face trial.
He and his company, Akonta Mining Limited, are accused of illegal mining.
The charges are connected to land in Samreboi.
Justice Audrey Kocuvie-Tay dismissed a request from Mr. Boasiako's legal team to end the case.
This means the company and its chairman must now present their defense.
The court ruling was made on March 28, 2026.
