The Accra High Court has ordered Bernard Antwi Boasiako, the Ashanti regional chairman of the NPP, to present his defence in a court case. He is often called Chairman Wontumi.

The case concerns allegations of illegal mining. This mining is said to have happened on land owned by his company, Akonta Mining.

The location in question is Samreboi, which is in the Western Region of Ghana. The court's order was made on Monday, March 16.

Chairman Wontumi and his company must now explain their actions to the court.

This legal proceeding follows concerns raised about mining activities on the concession.

The Judicial Service has set a date for the defence to begin.
