The High Court in Accra has ordered Bernard Antwi Boasiako, the Ashanti regional chairman for the NPP, to begin his defence in a court case. He faces charges related to illegal mining activities.
The alleged illegal mining took place on a concession owned by Mr. Antwi Boasiako at Samreboi in the Western Region.
The court issued this instruction on Monday, March 16.
Mr. Antwi Boasiako and his company, Akonta Mining, are the subjects of this legal action.
The Judicial Service made the order for Mr. Antwi Boasiako to open his defence.
This legal proceeding is part of efforts to address concerns about illegal mining operations in Ghana.
