The Accra High Court has ordered Bernard Antwi Boasiako, also known as Chairman Wontumi, to begin his defence. He is the Ashanti regional chairman for the NPP party.

The court’s decision relates to a case involving illegal mining activities. These activities allegedly took place on a mining concession in Samreboi. Samreboi is located in the Western Region of Ghana.

The judge issued the order on Monday, March 16. Chairman Wontumi and his company, Akonta Mining, are involved in this legal matter.

The court found there was enough evidence presented. This evidence requires Chairman Wontumi to respond to the charges against him.

The prosecution presented its case earlier. Now, the defence team will have the opportunity to present their evidence and arguments.

This legal action is part of ongoing efforts to address illegal mining operations in the country.

Further court proceedings will determine the outcome of the case.
