An Accra High Court has ordered Bernard Antwi Boasiako, also known as Chairman Wontumi, to make his defence in a case concerning alleged illegal mining.

The court dismissed a submission by Mr. Boasiako to have the case thrown out. This means the case will continue.

Justice Audrey Kokuvie Tay delivered the ruling on Monday. The judge found that the prosecution had presented sufficient evidence to proceed.

Mr. Boasiako must now appear in court to present his side of the story.

The charges relate to alleged involvement in illegal mining activities.

The court's decision means the legal process will move forward with Mr. Boasiako's defence.
