An Accra High Court has ordered Bernard Antwi Boasiako, also known as Chairman Wontumi, to present his defence.

The order relates to a case concerning alleged illegal mining activities on a concession owned by him.

This concession is located in Samreboi in the Western Region.

Chairman Wontumi and his company, Akonta Mining, are involved in the case.

The court issued the directive on Monday, March 16.

The directive means the case will proceed to the next stage where Mr. Boasiako will have to explain his actions.

This order comes after the prosecution argued they had presented enough evidence.

The Judicial Service has recorded the proceedings of the court.

Further court dates will be set for the defence to present its case.

The outcome will determine the legal standing of Mr. Boasiako and his company regarding mining laws.
