A court has told Bernard Antwi Boasiako, the NPP Ashanti regional chairman, that he must defend himself in court. The case is about illegal mining on land he owns in Samreboi, Western Region.

The Accra High Court made this decision on Monday, March 16. Chairman Wontumi and his company, Akonta Mining, are facing charges related to this mining activity.

The court found that the prosecution had presented enough evidence for Chairman Wontumi to respond to the accusations.

He must now explain his side of the story regarding operations on his concession.

This ruling moves the legal process forward in the ongoing illegal mining case.
