The Accra Circuit Court presided over by His Honour has remanded a thirty four year old businessman into police custody following his involvement in an alleged visa fraud operation. The prosecution informed the court that the suspect targeted several individuals with promises of high paying employment opportunities in Canada.

According to court documents the suspect allegedly collected various sums totaling approximately fifty thousand dollars from his victims. These payments were supposedly intended to cover administrative costs including visa processing fees and work permit applications for the North American country.

The complainants reported the matter to the police after several months passed without the promised travel documents being issued. Investigations revealed that the suspect did not possess the legal authorization or the necessary connections to facilitate the migration process as he had claimed during the initial negotiations.

During the court proceedings the prosecution requested more time to conclude investigations and identify additional victims who might have fallen for the scheme. The defense counsel requested bail for the accused but the presiding judge denied the application citing the severity of the charges and the risk of interfering with ongoing inquiries.

The court has scheduled the next hearing for later this month as the police continue to gather evidence and witness statements. This case highlights a growing trend of recruitment scams targeting young professionals seeking international opportunities through unauthorized channels.
