The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi-Boasiako, also known as Chairman Wontumi, has been sentenced to 20 years imprisonment by the Accra High Court. He was convicted on charges related to illegal mining activities.
The court also imposed a fine of 10,000 penalty units on the convicted regional chairman. The sentencing follows a thorough legal process concerning his involvement in illegal mining operations within the region.
